Casual Trading Applications are processed in conjunction with the Casual Trading Act and Casual Trading Bye-Laws 2004.

Requirements
A completed application form and terms and conditions of acceptance form must be submitted together with proof of public liability insurance in the amount of €6.5m, relevant fee.  If an electricity supply is required a separate application form and fee are applicable and the fee must be paid in advance of commencement of trading.

It is essential that a trader’s stall/structure complies with Schedule B of the Tralee Town Council Casual Trading Bye-Laws.  A photograph of stall/structure must be supplied by trader with their application form.  Permits will not be issued for stalls/structures that do not comply with Schedule B of the Bye-Laws.

There is a statutory duty on Tralee Town Council to provide certain information to the Minister for Social Welfare and to the Revenue Commission in connection with casual traders in Tralee.  It is necessary to fully complete all parts of the application form, including the section regarding a trader’s PPS number/tax ref number for a company.  If this section is not completed, the application will be considered incomplete and returned.

Trading Days
The trading days available are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Fees
The Summer casual trading period for casual trading in The Square, Tralee, commences on 1st March and ends on 31st August each year (Rose of Tralee Festival date are excluded from any permit which may issue as a separate application form and fee must be submitted for same).  The fee application for trading in one bay for one day per week during the Summer period is €575.  If you wish to trade on more than one day then you multiply this fee by the number of days you wish to trade.  This fee may be paid per three month period and is non-refundable.

The Winter casual trading period for casual trading in The Square, Tralee, commences on 1 September and ends on 28 February each year (29 February in case of a leap year).  The fee application for trading in one bay for one day per week during the Summer period is €500.  If you wish to trade on more than one day then you multiply this fee by the number of days you wish to trade.  This fee may be paid per three month period and is non-refundable.
